David Fee was on his way to Christmas Mass in Victoria, Canada, when he was accidentally shot down by a man waiting for another man. Then the place of his death and the place of burial were noticed, especially during the Christmas period.

On a frosty Christmas Eve in 1890, the quaint streets of Victoria, British Columbia were forever scarred by a sinister event that left its ghostly mark on Bastion Square. The story of David Fee, whose life was suddenly and tragically cut brief, continues to haunt this picturesque area, attracting curious viewers and ghost lovers alike.

Christmas night turns into a horror movie

David Fee, a teenage man of only 21 years venerable, was full of Christmas spirit and came to town to visit his parents. After attending a lively costume party, he went to visit his parents for midnight mass at a nearby church. In the cathedral of St. Andrew in Victoria, prayers were already underway and carol singing was beginning.

Dressed in a white clown costume, he wandered the festive streets. The cathedral bells began to ring at midnight, marking the transition from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day.

At the same time, Clarence Phelan/Lawrence Whelan, the watchman at the cathedral, was drinking whiskey and waiting for the man who told him to take down the flag of Irish independence. He knew the man was wearing a white coat.

As Fee approached the corner where the cathedral stood, the atmosphere suddenly changed from festive to menacing. A figure emerged from the shadows with a double-barreled shotgun in his hand. The attacker's voice broke the silence of the night with a blood-curdling declaration: “You challenged me!

Before David Fee could utter a word in his defense, a shotgun blast rang out in the night and he fell to the ground, lifeless. Some claimed it happened by accident. People in the church ran out and saw him in a pool of blood, covered with gunpowder burns.

It turned out that the attacker had mistaken Fee for another man, leading to a tragic case of mistaken identity. He turned himself in and was convicted of manslaughter.

The Haunting of David Fee begins.

Since that fateful night, it is said that David Fee's ghost has lingered in Bastion Square, on the steps of the cathedral, or in Ross Bay Cemetery, where he was buried. Many believe that his soul, troubled and wronged, still wanders the streets where he met his untimely end.

Visitors to the area have reported sightings of circulating fog and a ghostly figure dressed in white wandering the area around the cathedral and the nearby cemetery where Fee is buried. His ghostly presence is especially powerful around Christmas, on the anniversary of his death.
