James and Brittany Campbell were married in 2018. James was a lonely father with two boys and served in the American Navy. Shortly after the wedding, he was transferred to the Hawaiian military base in Honolul for two years and moved there with the whole family, informs nypost.com.
In May 2019, they rented a house in Honolulu and soon after they began to notice strange things at home. It all began when one day Bretania went to the garage, where they put on boxes with things that still unpacked to take one of the boxes, and found that there was a complete mess.

The boxes were dispersed, and the things of them were thrown out and placed in various piles. Everything looked as if the man was rummaging and intentionally sorting things according to one algorithm known to him.
Brittany got scared, fell home and called her husband. When James examined the mess in the garage, he thought the robber broke into the house. Later, however, they learned that none of the things was lacking, at least valuable and noticeable.
Finally, they decided that one of their dogs slipped into the garage and forgot about the incident after a few days.
A week later, when Bretania was alone at home and dressed for a meeting with her friends, she loudly heard the entrance door. She thought her husband and sons returned home and called them, but no one answered.
She left the bedroom and brought all the rooms at home, but did not find anyone. Very frightened, she finally found that her husband or one of her sons was coming back for a moment to pick up something at home. Then she packed up and went to her friends.

Returning in the evening, when her husband and boys were already at home, she asked them if any of them returned home for a forgotten object, and said “no”. When she told James about slamming the door, she assumed it was a sketch.
Brittany did not agree with this, she said that she clearly remembers closing the door behind them in the morning, and James assumed that she just forgot about it.
That evening they had a great fight, and Bretania had difficulty falling asleep. She woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of the door opening. Listening in silence, she heard pop again, this time from the front door.
Brittany immediately woke James and told him about the door, but he already called her paranoid and assured her that he personally closed the door in the evening. Then he fell asleep, and Bretania did not believe him, went to the door and saw that it was not closed.
She immediately threw herself to the room of her sons, but they slept. Brittany woke up boys and asked if they got up at night and opened the front door. The children refused everything.
Then Bretania returned to the bedroom and woke her husband again. They began to argue and suddenly they both heard the door slammed at home. Now it was on the side of the door leading to the yard. But this time James was not worried and said it was just a sketch.
Several days have passed. James was alone at home and played the piano. At one point he felt uncomfortable, as if he wasn't alone in the living room and that someone was watching him. At one point, outside the corner of the eye, he noticed a human character by the window – someone stood outside and looked at him.
He couldn't see his face, just a figure, because there was a veil on the window, but he immediately threw himself into the window and rejected the curtain. Unfortunately, the stranger reacted very quickly, and James only noticed how the man ran towards the yard, and then disappeared somewhere.
James found out that it could be one of the compelling neighbors, but even he was worried and knew that something bad was happening.
In a few days the whole family was to go to the cinema, and Bretania decided to take her favorite blanket with them because the evening was nippy. She searched the whole house but couldn't find a blanket. Without him they went to the cinema.
When the family returned home that evening, they were shocked, seeing that the favorite blanket of Brittany was perfectly convoluted and arranged on the couch. Now everyone was scared and believed that someone else was entering their home. They were so scared that they decided to go home here for a moment on the continent.
They returned almost three months later, September 20. And when they stopped at home, they immediately saw that James's bike was in the driveway, although he locked him in the garage before leaving.
When they opened the garage, they again found a complete mess, but this time, next to their distributed things, there were orange bottles with some pills.

The family came to the conclusion that they were robbed and Bretania called at the number 911. After putting the children in the car, James took a immense hammer from the garage and began to open the entrance door. He suspected that the intruder was still at home.
It turned out that he was right, because as soon as he began to open the door, someone from the inside began to tighten the handle and disturb him. And then in the vision he saw someone's eye and a male voice from behind the door said: “This is not your home.”
The enraged James used all his strength and finally cracked inside, immediately throwing himself at the stranger and turning him to the floor. He threatened him with a hammer, and then pulled him out of the house to the lawn. Soon the police arrived and twisted the stranger, immediately discovering his identity. It turned out that this is a 23-year-old Ezequiel Zayas.
Meanwhile, James and Bretania entered the house and found everything in disarray. There was a shortage of piano in the living room. The furniture was colored with some stains. The only room that was fine was the sons' room.
The kitchen was also full of debris, everything was full of pan, pots, plates and bottles of water and incomprehensible liquid.
In the bedroom James found a distributed towel, on which there were many carefully arranged piercing knives, and next to him there was a laptop. When he opened the laptop, the documentary entitled “The Omnivore Trials: A Rehabilitation for Rathing People”.
When he started reading this document, his hair stood at the end. It was a diary in which Ezequiel described how he secretly watched the Campbell family, having hacking their home and glancing through the windows. He considered them to be seven human rats, on which he planned to perform “repair” surgical procedures.
“He wanted to play a doctor in us – not a cute little kid,” Brittany said. “[He wrote about] How could he make us perfect people. “

These procedures included limb amputation and re -supplementation of the sex. And to peaceful and immobilize Campbells, he intended to feed them with their medicine, whose vials lay in the garage.
Also on the computer there was Ezequiela's video, in which he was completely naked, sitting on a chair, looking at the laptop camera and talking about his plans.
It is still not clear how Zayas got into the two -story Campbells house and how long he hid there. And for what reason he chose Campbells. But his diary contained very personal details about them, such as the fact that Bretania underwent the treatment of fertility, which the couple did not share with anyone, and other medical details. This where he received this information is also a secret.
Zayas was accused of burglary, but then released under supervision. Soon after, he was arrested again, this time on the charge of destroying the Buddhist temple. This time he received a real prisoner.
In 2020, in prison, Zayas killed his companion, 62-year-old Vance J. Grace. In the autumn of 2020 he was accused of murdering the first and second degree and pleaded not guilty. Then he was announced “unable to continue the trial” and was placed in the hospital.
According to the latest data, another attempt was waiting for him. What happened to him is currently unknown. It is also not known whether he had undergone a psychiatric examination and whether he was considered reasonable or crazy, or whether he was diagnosed with mental illness and other details.
The Campbells themselves were very shocked and scared of what happened. They left Hawaii as soon as possible, but later they agreed to work with journalists, and the television program was shot about their history.
“This incident really influenced us psychologically as a family. Our whole life turned us upside down. It was really difficult to recover from it,” says Brittany.
