ANDabout 5 years ago my aunt moved in with me and my family because she was really diseased and her kids lived out of state. I had always been very close to my aunt and couldn't wait for her to come live with us. I was closer to her than to my mother.
Anyway, she stayed with us for about 5 months before deciding to move west to be closer to her children. About 2 months after moving west, her daughter called me and told me that her aunt was in the hospital and the doctors didn't think she would survive. I was nervous, but I was also grateful that during the 5 months she was with us, I had the chance to get even closer to her. A week later, I was lying on the couch, half-awake and half-asleep, when I dreamed that my aunt was bouncing up and down my driveway, saying goodbye and assuring me that she would be back. She was really adamant that she would come back. She got into her SUV and drove away. As she was driving away in her sleep, the phone rang and woke me up. It was my mother who told me that my aunt had just died. I knew this was what she was going to say even before she said the words.
The strange thing about this dream was that my aunt looked hearty. She did indeed gain some weight. She was always skin and bones, because she was very diseased and because she jumped. My aunt could barely walk, let alone jump. Besides, she didn't have a car because she was always too frail to drive. I like to believe she came to say goodbye to me in my dreams, but as for her coming back, I kind of wish she would. I say I “kind of” wish she would because I've never seen a ghost and I know for a fact that if I did, I'd go crazy.
