For years, the Varala family was haunted by mystical forces in their house in Borraxeiros. This poltergeist-like phenomenon was believed to have been brought from South America during one of his travels and was slowly driving them mad in Casa Varela.
Are you ready to hear a scary story that will send shivers down your spine? There is a haunted house in Spain that scares all its inhabitants. The house is known to be haunted by the ghost of a former resident.
The spirits found within Casa Varela have been described as particularly sinister and have been seen lurking in the shadows, making eerie sounds, and even moving objects.
The haunting begins at Casa Varela
Borraxeiros in Pontevedra is one of those places that were historically known as Deep Galicia. This is the deepest of forests, where the population is thin and myths and legends lurk in the shadows of the dense forest.
This story lasted 5 years filled with terror for the family living in that terrible house called Casa Varela. Its owner was D. Manuel Varela, a plain farmer living with his family and trying to make ends meet on the farm.
It all started one afternoon in 1916. It was May and summer and lighter times were coming. But not for the Varela family, in whose house strange things began to happen. It began to rain stones, destroying the house.
Manuel Varela went to the Civil Guard to ask for support, but they were unable to find the cause of this strange incident at Casa Varela. Soon, even stranger things began to appear in the family.
Objects in the house moved, even furniture flew into the air and violently crashed into the walls. The whole family suffered from long sleepless nights and paranoia. What was happening? At night, the ghosts pulled their clothes, slapped them, and beat them whenever they tried to sleep.
Other harrowing experiences, such as their bedclothes being stripped from them, being chased out of the house, and having flour thrown in their faces, slowly made them lose their minds, but had nowhere to go.
In 1921, the events at Casa Varela stopped without explanation and without them taking any action. It never happened again, but for the family, what happened marked them forever.
After 5 years of this nightmare, it was too much for Mr. Varela, who finally went crazy and started talking to himself and visiting the cemetery. Neighbors said he went there to pray because voices in his head told him to.
Why did this happen to the family? One theory was that M. Varela lived in Cuba for many years before returning to Spain. Some say he brought something home with him, some shadowy magic or voodoo from a distant island.
