Ffirst of all, let me say that I do not support this story nor do I have any evidence to support it. I just think it's compelling – to wonder, to ponder, to imagine the possibilities of its existence, etc. I don't necessarily take it to heart, and I don't expect you to either. Serious opinions, interpretations, etc. are welcome. I only ask that comments be respectful.

This story has been passed down to me, and now, in a sense, to you as well. It was passed on to me by an older brother and sister who, as I recall, both of whom, when questioned separately, gave the same details. I haven't conducted an audition recently to verify this, but I suspect so. Anyway, I find it compelling and I hope you do too.

As children, my older brother and sister sometimes used the forest near their house (for those curious, this was before I was born: my brother and sister are quite a bit older than me), playing there from time to time, I believe. I'm not sure if they actually “played” there, but they must have gone in at least once. Unfortunately, they did not know the area well.

Our father, who is not the brightest and not very responsible, took on the task of caring for a friend's feline pet (a house cat, of course). The cat in his care managed to escape. Fearing his friend's reaction to the fact that the animal was missing, he sent a search party (at least I assume that was his logic) – that is, my brother and sister. Their destination: the forest.

My brother and sister set out to find the cat, most likely against their will, but they were determined nonetheless. They wandered further and further into the forest. Searching and searching, they come up empty-handed. The cat could not be found. It was starting to get obscure: they didn't have much time.

Continuing their search, they wandered between a pair of trees… and came to the broken, eerie remains of what they call “the village”… there wasn't much there… the frames of elderly buildings… perhaps lost in a fire long ago. But the empty remains were the least of their worries.

As it got darker, they started to head back… but wait… the direction they came in just took them back to the remains of the village. They walked around but ended up back in the village. Until it hit them – two trees. They started looking for the same two trees they had entered through. They finally found it. Once again they passed between the two trees… and as if by magic, they returned to their path home. They could only enter and leave the village by passing between these particular trees.

As it began to get obscure, they finally made it home, safe and sound and sound. And as it turns out, the cat was hiding in the house the whole time! However, their search for the cat led them to a strange place that I am sure they will never forget. Perhaps it was a portal to a piece of the past? Nobody knows and I doubt they ever will.
