MYour son, who turned 4 last month, has told me in the past that he has a ghost friend. I asked a lot of questions about his friend, but my son never told me anything coherent, so I disregarded it.
Yesterday he was in his bedroom watching a movie and I went into his room to check on him and he was leaning over the tank with his turtle and the room smelled very strongly of perfume. I asked him what he was doing and he told me he poured a bottle of perfume into his turtle's tank. I immediately get enraged because he knows full well that the turtle tank is off-limits because he has already gotten in trouble for touching the tank. He started saying “I'm sorry, I'm sorry” and I asked him why we did it when he could have killed our turtle, he told me that his spirit friend created it, that he didn't mean to, and that his spirit friend was making him follow his evil rules. I told him that his spirit friend was not welcome in our home and that he had to come to the other side. My son was upset and said he would miss his friend, and he was a good friend.
I need advice because I don't know how to deal with it and how to support my son break up with his “friend”. Please leave a message or email at susan_adkins [at] Hotmail [dot] comm. I would be grateful.
