My name is Amber and I'm almost 22 years elderly. I've always been a firm believer in ghosts, but I've never believed in evil beings. So when I first saw the shadow, I thought it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. The first meeting took place in the spring of 2007. I was working on a story for a science fiction class in high school when I suddenly felt that something in the class had changed, something was wrong. I couldn't detect anything, so I just shrugged my shoulders, said I had an overactive imagination, and went back to writing. That feeling came back again and fear gripped me, so I turned around, looked around the room, and that's when I noticed it. Huddled in the corner, it was black, tiny, with no discernible features. I saw him stretch out his arms and shouted at him to go away, and he disappeared into the other shadows in the room (shadows that were apparently created by airy shining on objects). This was my first encounter with shadow beings.
The second meeting took place about two years later. It was a brilliant, radiant summer day. I lay in bed with the fan on and tried to beat the heat. I decided to call my friend Katie because I was bored and wanted someone to talk to. Our conversation didn't last long because she had to get ready for work, so it was me again with nothing to do. I was about to reach for the book when I noticed something near my window. I thought it was a child blocking the window, but this thing seemed to materialize out of nowhere. It looked like a giant blur, without form. In the blink of an eye it just disappeared! This made me run out of the room in fear and I definitely didn't sleep there for a long time.
My last meeting was a few months before I moved into my own apartment. I was watching TV in the obscure upstairs, obviously a horror movie. I had to stop the movie because it suddenly got chilly in the living room, so I went for a pillow and a blanket to get toasty, and also decided to sleep upstairs that night (something comforting that I got from watching a horror movie as a kid, it makes me feel protected, knowing my parents are in the next room). When I returned upstairs, I noticed something crouched in the corner. I thought it was my sister Santana because she always went upstairs to the living room because she thought her room was too icy to sleep in. As I approached the corner, I realized it wasn't here, but one of the shadow beings I had seen before. As soon as I noticed that it wasn't my sister, she disappeared like she had evaporated.
These shadow beings are not just a figment of my imagination. It's not my eyes playing tricks on me because of the way the room is lit. The shadows are pure black and look like they could be solid. Sometimes they take the shape of a person, sometimes they are shapeless, or at least in my experience with them that is what happened. I don't know why I made it a point for me to see it, or where it even came from, or if it's still in the house (my whole family has moved and I live in an apartment across town, with no encounters with the shadow for at least 9 months). I know my mind was telling me that this was something bad and that something bad would happen if I stayed there longer with my family, so immediately after the last meeting I started looking for an apartment, I finally felt free when I moved to my own place. I was and still am elated to be free from what haunts me.
