ANDactually this story wasn't exactly my experience but I thought I'd post it and share it with people. These are my grandfather's experiences and he told me all about it. When he was younger, he and my grandmother lived in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico, and he always loved being around his father or my great-grandfather.
One day my great-grandfather died and my grandfather was heartbroken. It was extremely strenuous for him after the death of his hero and someone special, but one day, about six or seven years later, my grandfather was getting ready for bed, taking his pills as he lay down, and was about to close his eyes when he thought he saw something. on the window next to his bed. My grandfather opened his eyes alertly and was surprised to see his father's (or my great-grandfather's) face in the window, looking at him and smiling as if he were still alive and well. Then my great-grandfather opened and closed his mouth as if he wanted to tell my grandfather something. Then his face disappeared, and my grandfather saw it again another night, in the exact same place, before he never saw it again. Sometimes my grandfather tells me that when they go to Mexico he always sleeps in the same place and that he looks out the open window (to see if he can see his beloved father's face again) and just stares outside and the ecstatic memories of his father that came back to him .
I was moved when my grandfather told me this story. One night when my family and I were living in this house, I had to take the bed next to the window where my grandfather could see my great-grandfather's face, and I guess I didn't sleep all night because I was just looking outside that window, hoping he would see something. Even though I couldn't see anything, I had this comforting (and also a little scary) feeling that someone was watching over me and that someone was next to me, making sure I was safe and sound. Maybe it was my great-grandfather, maybe it was just me, or maybe it was something else. I hope to get feedback from people who take the time to read this book.
