Ghosts don't like change

Ghosts don't like change

We have lived in the house we live in for almost ten years and nothing happened until about three years ago. The dirt our house was built on was destroying the foundation, so the entire basement was completely demolished (literally our upper level was raised on railroad ties!) and rebuilt. I always lived upstairs until we rebuilt the basement. I was in sixth grade when I moved my room downstairs.

The first time something happened to me, my older sister came to me to take care of her. Ironically, we watched Ghost Hunters right before going to bed, which made me wait for a while to tell anyone what happened for fear that they would think it was a scary show. I had only been in bed for five minutes when I heard a man's voice say “Tojo” right behind me. I thought maybe my dad was home, so I rolled over, but there was no one in my room. A second later I heard the same voice say “Toe.”

Then I turned on the radio, the clock backlight and closed my eyes tightly! The voice definitely wasn't coming through the vents. Voices always echo when I hear them this way. A few weeks later, I heard a woman whisper something I didn't quite understand. Since then I haven't heard any voices in my room, but I have seen shadows from time to time.

Since then, more terrible things have happened around the house that I feel like writing! When my sister is at home when we are away, she always hears voices (we don't have neighbors close enough to hear us) and strange things happen. Most importantly, she closed the door behind her tough enough to leave a bruise. FYI, there is no project that can make the move. We recently realized that most of these things happen during home renovations.

Coincidence? My parents are currently renovating their closet, so we'll see what happens! As long as it's not malicious, I'll be joyful to see what happens next.
