After a terrible and fatal accident at the ferry crossing in Aldona, it was decided to build the Calvim Bridge, which was to connect it to the mainland. However, after the bridge was built, reports of the place being haunted began to come in.

Stretching to the village of Aldona in Goa, the Calvim Bridge is a grim reminder of a tragic event that continues to haunt the local community. In February 2012, an unexpected disaster struck this otherwise silent town, resulting in the death of seven people, including four adolescent students.

Before the bridge was built, there was a ferry crossing from Aldona-Calvim. A minibus on the Aldona side in which six or seven passengers died, three or four of whom were schoolgirls returning home to the island.

Four students from St Thomas Girls' Secondary School in Aldona – cousins Diana (8) and Elvina (11), Dias, Priyal Salgaonkar (10) and Nagel Gracias – were killed, as well as two women and a man. The driver and conductor managed to swim to land and escape from the scene.

The exact details of the incident remain shrouded in sadness and confusion, but the death was profound and deeply felt by the community.

The locals then put a huge effort into building the bridge and ten years after they asked for it, with many lives lost later, it happened. However, according to local tradition, it is anything but peaceful on the newly built bridge.

Haunting at Calvim Bridge

As night falls and the gloomy hours envelope the village, those who venture near the Calvim Bridge report experiencing a number of disturbing sensations and supernatural phenomena during the night.

One of the most frequently reported phenomena on the Calvim Bridge is the eerie sound of the voices of drowning passengers carried by the wind. These sounds often seem to come from the water below or from the bridge itself, adding to the unsettling atmosphere. The voices are sometimes accompanied by the chilling feeling of being watched, of an hidden presence lingering in the shadows.

Another frequently mentioned experience is the sighting of ghostly apparitions near the bridge. Some people report seeing shadowy figures resembling adolescent students. These apparitions are often seen near the site of tragedy, and their ethereal presence is a stark reminder of a life cut low.
