It is believed that the Dagshai cemetery reached the British colonial era in India, when the British turned Dagshai into an army canton.
History says that the British named Major George Weston, lived in Dagshai with his wife, Mary Rebecca Weston. While Major Weston practiced medicine, his wife served as a nursing assistant. After years of childless childlessness, the couple changed when they met a wandering Muslim saint who gave them a blessed amulet. After this divine intervention, Mary, George's wife, got pregnant with her first child.
However, Fate gave them a cruel hand because Mary tragically died in the eighth month of pregnancy on December 10 in 1909. Sad and deeply in love, George Weston raised a wonderful grave in memory of his beloved wife and their unborn child at the Dagshai cemetery. The excellent marble used for this moving structure was imported from England.
Mary's wrong heritage
Over the years, stories about the grave of Mary with wonderful powers began to circulate in the region. The erroneous conviction rooted: If a pregnant woman took a piece of marble from the grave of Mary, she would be blessed with a male child. Therefore, countless guests came to the resting place of Mary, stupidly trying to distort their stunning monument to avoid daughter's delivery. It is a relentless carving on a grave near the ruin of a marble grave. The local woman even began to sell marble shipping elements.
