Without any medicine and without knowing, Ade's vampiric being can change as a fire and suck blood and life strength, it is also said that they have demonic ability to have their goals.

In dense tropical nights of Togo, Ghana and Benin, when the air grows densely, and the noise of insects rises like a restless singing, archaic stories whispering creature more sinister than any ordinary predator. It is said that this vampiric spirit from folklore is lurking in the shade – taking the form of a harmless guardian at night, just to slip through cracks and key holes, exhausting the life of the sleeping.

Under his flickering splendor lies something much more sinister than superstition – a terrifying legend deeply rooted in the culture of people, fears and inexplicable tragedies of West Africa.

Firefly with hunger

During the day you can not find anywhere, but at night he takes the form of a guard, pouring quietly through the darkness. Ago is particularly known for Baobab, who live on trees, which are considered holy sheep in culture and have significant spiritual significance. Unlike ordinary insects, Azee is looking for houses, moving through the smallest holes: a cracked window, a gap under the door or concealed seams on a thatch roof.

In the middle he goes down to sleeping, quietly feeding his blood, especially from children. The victims would become pale and feverish, and their strength flowed down, sometimes slipping into death without a evident wound to explain their fall. Whole households can get ill by fueling whispers of spells and concealed forces at work.

Ewe people: There is no record when stories about Azee began for the first time. Archaeological evidence shows that people settled on the coast of West Africa, in the tropical region of what is now Ghana and Togo, around the 13th century. Possession and witches

But Aze's terror does not end with night feeding. Although known from vampire traits, it does not end there. If it is caught, it is said that the creation is transformed into a human character – and worse, it may have a living like a demon. People owned by Aze, both a man and a woman, are seen by the community as witches, known locally as Abasom.

Religion Vodun: EWE people were exposed to missionaries' teachings, they did not reject their time-honored religion Vodun – which means “spirit” in EWE and is a source of different traditions of Vodou or Voodoo in America – for Christianity. Instead, they loosely joined these two. Perhaps that is why Aze began to resemble demons and devil.

It was believed that the influence of Aze spread the misfortune and illness among the victim's family or neighbors. Suspicion of having Aze traditionally falling on people perceived as outside or threats:

Women with brothers whose children prosper when they are disgusting are jealous of other wives of her husband or infertile. In general, it is believed that women are possessed by Aze much more than men. Older villagers who inexplicably survived the juvenile. Poor and jealous, suspected of looking for revenge on successful through dim spiritual means.

Reflection of true dangers

Folklore has long speculated that the stories of AZZA could have appeared as an attempt to explain the mortal effects of malaria, a disease disseminated by mosquitoes in the same regions in which faith in AZZ is the strongest. Uterine people have long felt powerless against illness. Like the legendary creature, mosquitoes slip unnoticed at night, leaving their victims of the ill and the feeble for a evident reason.

However, AZe is more than an allegory. For generations, his legend served as a way to die, illness and jealousy in tightly woven communities in which the unexplained tragedy required a face – and Azee, with its changing character and vampiric hunger, were one.

Without defense, no escape

Perhaps the most relaxing of all is the belief that there is no defense against AZE. Neither the amulet nor the spell, no holy ritual or the healer's blessing could prevent his entry or save a clear sacrifice. A silent predator, moves between the worlds – from insects to man, from spirit to possession – and when the sacrifice, death or ruin would start soon.

Some say that you can free someone from having, like forcing ADE from the host or after Christianity enters through prayer.

Even today, in rural villages and among the elders who remember elderly stories, the flickering of a lonely guard on a damp night can still cause anxiety. Is it just a harmless insect … Is a centuries -old vampire in search of blood?
