In 1979, the Druid Theater Company found its modern home in a former tea warehouse on Courthouse Lane, tucked away in Quay Street in one of Galway's oldest areas. At the time, the building was one of several in the area that remained abandoned for years. Druid Lane has changed around Mick Lally's Theatre
The Druid Theater Company was a success in its modern location and Courthouse Lane itself was transformed as the Mick Lally Theater did well and people began to flock to the area. Today it is a bustling thoroughfare and a dynamic cultural center in the heart of Galway.
However, in the shadow of the once abandoned building that is now the Mick Lally Theatre, sometimes the ghost of the past also appeared.

It was this story that gave rise to blood-curdling stories about encounters with ghosts. Among these stories is the haunting figure of a faceless nun who is said to wander silently along Druid Lane, just outside the theater doors.
In the 1980s, the theater's reputation for the supernatural was reinforced by a disturbing incident involving eminent actor Sean McGinley. One evening, while McGinley was working difficult at the Mick Lally Theater, he reported hearing strange and unexplained sounds coming from the building itself, which forced him to flee the place before he saw anything else.
